The Old Piano

The old theater sat empty. People did not come to the theater any more, they preferred movies and more interactive entertainment. Michael’s family owned the theater for more than a hundred years, but now, unless people came back, he would be forced to sell to a local developer who wanted to turn it into another movie theater.

“Such a loser,” he told himself, dangling his legs off the stage near the old grand piano. “Can’t keep it going.”

Suddenly music filled the theater. Michael jumped around to see who was playing the piano and could not believe his eyes. A family of mice were jumping from key to key as the youngest mouse turned the sheet music.

The theater boomed as Michael introduced the greatest comedy act of the century.

This short piece was inspired by the Three Things Challenge prompts: mouse, sheet music, comedy
