Blogging Fill-in-the-Blanks #14

If you are unfamiliar with Fill-in-the-Blanks, they are short stories with words missing that you, the reader, fill in based on the noted requirement (i.e. noun, name, verb, color, etc.). Step 1 is to read the list of blanks for the story and write down the words you select for that item (i.e. Name 1 = Bill, nouns = stars, etc.).

There are two ways to participate in this new adventure:

  1. Copy the story and make a post of your own with the missing pieces filled in
  2. Post your responses in the comments below

All Evan wanted to do with his life was play the instrument. He practiced day in and day out in the family garage. Jessie joined, and they became a duo playing at neighborhood BBQs, then Alice joined, and they started getting gigs at friend’s parties. Eventually they won the local competition and Evan was sure his career was going to finally take off on the national scene.

“I’m sure of it, Mom,” he said as he packed up his car and moved to Location to pursue his dream.

Once there, his world came crashing as reality of adulthood hit him. He had to earn money while working nights on his musical career. First, he was a occupation, then a occupation, then finally an adult video store clerk. Still, it paid the bills and he was adjective.

After a few months, Jessie and Alice joined him and they got the group back together. Reality TV Show came to town and the friends entered. The hated Jessie, loved Alice, and told Evan to not quit his day job. He didn’t. Eventually, he started composing for adult plural noun, found work as a drag show director, and found a full-time career in music. It was a great life.

A Night at the Opera

Joshua planned the night perfectly. He bought her favorite flowers, picked the perfect bistro, arranged for her favorite book to be in the bookshop window, and purchased the best box at the opera nearly six months earlier. He waited for Lana to come home from work, take a shower, and start to relax. His plan was then set in motion.

“Why don’t we go out to eat tonight,” he suggested.

“Oh, that sounds lovely,” she said.

On their way out the door, Joshua reached into the refrigerator and whipped out the bouquet of flowers.

Lana squealed. “They’re lovely!” She kissed his cheek and wrapped herself around his arm.

The meal was perfect and she nearly flipped when she saw the book she loved on the way to the opera house.
