The Adventure of a Lifetime #11 (A to Z Blogging)

Movement upstairs startled Ace. She drew her pistol and looked back at the man who just shrugged. He calmly sat at the table and poured a cup of sweet smelling liquid from a gourd.

“Please, sit,” he said.

Ace’s hand relaxed and she took a deep breath. She sat across from the man and gazed at him. “Who are you?”

He appeared taken aback but said nothing. He poured Ace a cup and slid it over to her, then took a long sip of his own while contemplating what to say. “It worked,” he whispered to himself.

“What worked? Who are you?”
